Plastic Pollution in the World

This week, I watched three TED talks, which is a presentation/video that focuses on current world issues such as climate change, wars, or even coral reefs. However, the TED talk I'm focused on talks about plastic pollution. The main idea of these three TED talks were to reduce the overall human footprint on our wildlife from either cutting down on fertilizer which can create “dead zones”, or trying to reduce plastic waste emitted into the wild. One idea that I found interesting was raising the overall price of plastic by a quarter of a cent to make it an item of value. I thought this was interesting because this could potentially decrease plastic waste in the world because now, people can actually profit off of picking up plastic waste. I agree with this idea because it can truly help with the pollution issue. This can have a beneficial snowball effect because one of the largest ailments to wildlife is plastic pollution. Environmental Problems: Blog on ABC news

Global Warming, these are two words we hear in the news so frequently it’s almost like it’s every day. However, no matter how annoyingly frequent this issue occurs, it poses quite a large problem for us and the Earth. As we continue to grow and manufacture items to benefit ourselves, we are doing the complete opposite to the Earth. By benefiting ourselves by using factories, we are harming the Earth.  In the Article “ What you can do to help prevent climate change, according to experts ” published on the ABC website, it says “ since the Industrial Revolution, more than 555 gigatons of carbon have been emitted into the atmosphere, Smerdon said, adding that scientists have determined a "climate budget" of another 100 to 150 gigatons that can be released before the Earth begins to warm more than 1.5 degrees Celsius -- when we will experience more extreme weather patterns, such as severe heat waves.”.
